A supreme being who lies to his children? | If the bible is to be believed, yes. God promises abraham the land of Canaan to live in - Gen 17:8
God did not allow abraham to live in the promised land- Acts 7:5, Heb 11:8,9, 13 |
|
God promises that if his people "pray and seek my face, then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land." - 2 Chron 7:14 However, saul inquired of god many times, but god did not answer him - 1 Sam 28:6 To cover the tracks of this one, we discover later that it was saul's fault all along!
Apparently, saul died because he did not inquire of god- go figure!- 1 Chron 10:13,14 God says he will never "smite any more every thing living, as I have" - Gen 8:21 Yet, if the prophesies toward the end of the book are true, god will indeed smite "the nations" again as he did before. However, to be fair, this time it'll be by fire - Rev 19:15, 2 Peter 3:l0
And even allow the survivors of the first wave to eat the bodies of the victims before they too are slain.- Rev 19:18-21 Use a little logic... God promises that peace shall come to his people beginning with the messiah's first appearance on earth: "For the mountains may depart and the hills disappear, but my kindness shall not leave you. My promise of peace for you will never be broken, says the lord who has mercy upon you" - Isa 54:10 OK, now if this god person really said this; one, two, or all three of these MUST be true: A - jesus was not the messiah B - god was lying when he said this C - the past 2000 years' history of the nation of Israel is the type of peace we can expect to receive from god.
NOTE:If you take the time to go over this one in your mind, you'll see that it is logically sound, and makes sense. There are thousands of these implied syllogisms throughout the Bible, all one needs to do is look with an open mind. | |
