I agree. Thanks for sharing your insight into the translation. I think you're probably right.

About god being good no matter what he does, I think that's a real stretch. For someone who so obviously cares about the meaning of words, it strikes me funny that you toss about the word 'good' here to include the 'mysterious' things that god does like when he drowns babies or asks his people to slaughter innocents en masse.

As for god knowing the world would go wrong but creating it anyway- that's not evil, that's just stupid. You're not even saying that he's claiming, "I meant to do that" when he looks around noticing that somebody saw him trip over the curb. You're saying he knew things would get fucked up (according to his own definition) but did it anyway.

I hope you do post again. I think it will help people see what supporters of this god and bible have to say. Why let me dominate the conversation by being the only one presenting?

Thanks,
-Drew

I was referring to where I said "Eon would be a god definition", meant to say "Eon would be a good definition". I was not saying God is good but he is. It say his ways in not our way and it not given for everyone to understand his word. God knew this world would be a mess before he created it and in the end you will also find out how good he really is. Thanks for reading my feed back. I probally will not be posting anything else. You have a great day and I enjoy your reading and researching this site..

Actually, Roger- all the studying that need be done is to click my link to the bible gateway site and you can see that Young's literal translation is quite different from the modern English versions.

This only supports my point that god has an obscured message if one's only language is English. Did god not see English coming?

If it's so important to get this information right, why obfuscate so much? Surely it's within the power of an entity capable of creating the entire universe to oversee a little textual consistency.

And yes, I believe god should be good too- but he's not... at least the character described in the bible. (actually, I believe you can edit your comments if you'd like to correct any typos).

Thanks for your feedback.

I don't believe I ever claimed that christians don't think god created evil. It is a valid criticism, I believe, to point out the contradictory belief that god is all-loving, yet created evil.

Your entreaties to "study" seem quite lame. This isn't a semantics nor a translation problem. The problem of evil is a fundamental philosophical one. A problem only for those who claim god is all-present, all-powerful and all-loving.

I won't press you to study- I only ask that you think.

God did create evil. Isa 45:7 I form the light, and create darkness: I make peace, and create evil: I the LORD do all these things.
Evil is comes from the hebrew word ra and it is not clamatiy. Study.

the hebrew word is olam and it does not mean forever. Eon would be a god defintion but it is not a word meaning endless time. It is used in different place throughout the old testament and should not and can not mean forever or eternity or everlasting. Bibe tells us to study the Word. So God will destroy the earth and then God will make every thing new. Let you look up the verses. You will have to study to find them.

Looking back over this site after the latest refresh, I recognize that I failed here to hammer home the point that truly needs to be made- the one on which all of christianity is built:

The "fact" that a talking snake tricked a naive couple into eating a piece of fruit, thus condemning us all with original sin from which we need to be saved by worshiping jesus.

The only thing sillier than the premise of this story is the fact that so many people believe it to be a factual account of the world's history.

I wonder how many believers have truly considered why a god who saw ALL of this coming, ever put that fucking tree there in the first place- let alone create a talking snake and drop him in there as well. Why would ya do that, dumb-ass? It's like he was just making a sadistic diorama, no?

Any reasonable person must recognize that this is an ancient myth which served a cultural need to some ancient people who had no recourse to better explanations of their world.

A modern person might accept it as allegory, though it's still pretty nasty in its implication that we're all flawed due to this primitive sting operation. But if it is allegory, then THE foundation of christianity is undone.

You don't need a literal savior to redeem you of an allegorical sin (setting aside for a moment the pernicious concept of having someone else act as scapegoat for your sins in the first place).

That's an interesting theory, and might reconcile the apparent differences in the text itself. However, it does nothing to address the missing archeological evidence that a Jewish population lived in Egypt during this time.

I may have to consider moving this one from a hair-splitting numbers game to a legitimate clash with scientific reality.

Thanks for the feedback.
