God kills a man (onan) for "pulling out" and ejaculating onto the ground thereby avoiding impregnating his partner
- Gen 38:7-10

As background, onan’s partner in this affair was his dead brother’s wife. According to the text, the reason he was struck down was for "spilling his seed" and not for what he believed to be an adulterous act.

Apparently it never paid to try to use your own judgment of what was right or wrong back in those days. Best to let someone else do your thinking for you.

Nadab and abihu are incinerated by god for offering a "strange fire" before the lord
- Leviticus 10:1-2

The passage doesn’t tell us what makes a "strange fire" – you’ll just have to watch out next time you light up the Kingsford in the back yard or you could be next!

God condemns any man who has his penis severed or his testicles wounded….Ouch!

In the same passage, any child born out of wedlock shall never "enter into the congregation of the lord"- nor the next 10 generations of his line

God has a friendly meeting with his arch enemy, satan, but god somehow doesn’t even recognize him
- Job 1:6-7

The two have a wager over how much suffering it would take before righteous job will reject god.

God kills 70,000 men for the sins of their leader

God kills an innocent baby for its father’s (david) wrongdoing, all the time ignoring david’s desperate pleas to spare the innocent’s life

According to god’s law, an unwed girl not found to be a virgin must be killed

God deliberately deludes people so they will not be saved

God afflicts a woman with leprosy for bitching

It’s worth noting that her husband was guilty of the same crime yet only the woman is punished.

Because these folks made the Israelites go around Amalekite territory during their flight from Egypt, god orders saul to wipe them out.

These enemies of god’s people are annihilated. Everyone- men, women, children, suckling infants(!), pets and livestock; all are brutally slaughtered.

The spirit of god comes upon samson and he murders over a thousand people

God causes the earth to swallow up an unspecified number of people, their goods and homes. He then ices the cake by charring 250 men to cinders for offering incense.

God instructed the mass slaughter of Midianites, and the lord "slew every male", along with their rulers.

The Midianite women and children and animals were captured; then all the males, babies, and the women were murdered, but god instructed the butchers that the young, virgin girls could be "kept alive for yourselves"

The curses of god upon the Hebrews if they disobey him.

These include forcing them to eat their own children, starve them, let wild animals attack them, enslave the population, and other nice things.

God sends his evil spirit to cause saul to attack david with a spear. Literally, "…the evil spirit from God came upon Saul, and he prophesied in the midst of the house: and David played with his hand, as at other times: and there was a javelin in Saul’s hand."

There are some interesting references throughout this chapter that seem to insinuate homo-erotic themes. This is strictly interpretation, but try reading it for yourself and see if you hear what many critical readers hear. Be sure to skip the New International Version of the bible since these references have been carefully edited out.

God sends fiery serpents to bite and kill many of the people of Israel for speaking against god and moses.
- Numbers 21:5,6

God kills 24,000 Israelites by a plague because one of them brought a Midianite woman to his tent
- Numbers 25:6-9

God burns people to death for complaining
- Numbers 11:1

It is worth noting that the complaining the Israelites were doing came after they had been in the desert for weeks with no food and little water- whiners.
That should fix ‘em.

God demands the sick are to be driven out of the community

God demands death for anyone not circumcised

A person is to kill their own family yet again for a difference of religion
- Deuteronomy 13:6-10

God orders people to slaughter their own relatives because they rejected moses’ religion; 3,000 killed.

To encourage them, moses tells the killers that god will bless them for the act and ordain them for his service

God says that if a man strikes his slave, male or female, and they do not die immediately, the man shall not be punished because the slave is his money (i.e. his property)

In a bizarre kind of head-fake; zipporah, moses’ wife, takes a knife and cuts the foreskin from her son’s penis then throws it against moses’ feet. She then comments on how bloody moses is.

God is apparently impressed, (wouldn’t you be?) since this act seems to be the only thing that keeps him from killing moses after all.

God is omnipotent; responsible for the creation of everything.
